Targeted Fat Reduction and Contouring works by breaking down the membrane of fat cells, which then get absorbed by the body and progressively eliminated by the kidneys. It is hard for fat cells to be replaced, so the number of fat cells decrease permanently. It is particularly useful for the reduction of localised pockets of fat.

Yes, the brand that we use for the Fat Reduction and Contouring is a TGA approved treatment for dissolving the fat cells under the chin. However, it can be safely used to eliminate fat cells in other areas of the body, as long as the medicine is applied properly at the right dosage in a sterile environment and administered by the qualified nurses at The Lime Tree Clinic.

Side effects associated with the treatment are temporary and include swelling, tenderness, bruising and numbness. These resolve in 1-3 weeks. Our qualified cosmetic nurse will discuss the benefits and risks with you before your treatment is administered.

Targeted Fat Reduction & Contouring treatment is popularly used to destroy the fat cells under the chin that cause a facial condition known as “submental fullness” or commonly described as a double chin. Other common treatment areas include but are not limited to: cheeks, abdomen, thighs, upper arms, love handles, back fat, buttocks.

Targeted Fat Reduction & Contouring is non-surgical, quick and has relatively little down time. Depending on the location and the number of areas to be treated, the whole process generally takes about 30 minutes.

Prior to the procedure, our cosmetic practitioner will assess your medical history and the target treatment area to ensure you are deemed suitable for the treatment. The treated areas will be thoroughly cleansed and marked to enable precise delivery. The treatment area may become warm and red, and you may also experience a tingling sensation. A numbing cream can be applied 20 minutes prior to the procedure to minimise any discomfort during the procedure.

The procedure ends with a soft massage to the treated area for about 5 minutes to enhance the distribution of the solution.

Immediately after the treatment, you may experience swelling, bruising, itching, pain, sensitivity to pressure and warmth at the injection site. Avoid scratching or picking around the treated area and keep the area dry for at least 4 hours. This is normal and generally disappears within 1-2 weeks. You can continue your usual daily activities immediately.

Do not drink alcohol or perform strenuous exercise as this may result in additional bruising. Avoid exposure to intense heat, which can affect the treated areas.

Depending on the individual and the areas treated, visible results can be seen from 4 to 6 weeks after treatment. Depending on the size of the area and the fat thickness, you may need 1 to 4 or more treatments to achieve the desired results. By maintaining a healthy diet and a stable weight, the treatment results are long term.
