Frequently Asked Questions

The Limelight IPL Facial uses a computer-controlled handpiece to deliver wavelengths of light to the target skin, disrupting the underlying pigment cells and in return, reduce the appearance of skin pigmentation that can cause uneven skin tone and mottled skin.

Unlike most laser skin pigmentation removal treatments, the Limelight IPL Facial treatment can be customised to a specific skin type and selectively treat the brown and/or red pigmented areas on the skin. Both large areas and small spots can be treated.

Yes, the Limelight IPL Facial pigmentation removal treatment is non-invasive and safe when completed by a qualified medical professional.

At The Lime Tree Clinic, our medical cosmetic team are well trained both internationally and locally with extensive knowledge to operate the Limelight IPL Facial safely.

The Limelight IPL Facial is commonly used on the face, neck, décolletage, arms and hands, but it can be used on any part of the body. It is particularly effective for people with light to medium skin tone. The Limelight IPL Facial is very effective at treating:

  • Uneven skin tone and pigmentation
  • Brown spots (freckles, solar lentigines, age spots)
  • Telangiectasia (dilated capillaries), which appears as tiny blood vessels especially in sun exposed areas
  • Redness including mild to moderate acne and rosacea

Immediately after the Limelight IPL Facial treatment, you can return to your daily activities, including work and social obligations. You may experience some redness and mildly swollen skin after the treatment, but these symptoms are temporary and will gradually resolve within 1 to 2 days. The pigmentation in the treated areas will often become darker initially, this is temporary and is a good sign the treatment has worked well. Make up can be applied the next day. Sun avoidance is important immediately before and after treatment.

Within one to three weeks, the darkened spots will flake off and fade, the pre-existing diffuse redness or telangiectasia will decrease. You will notice improvements to your skin complexion and clearer, brighter skin.

You may need multiple sessions of Limelight IPL Facial to achieve optimum results that can last 6 months to a few years. Everyone’s result will vary, and this will depend on age, skin type, how long the pigmentation has been in the skin, the quality of the pigmentation and most importantly, your sun exposure.

Our qualified doctor will guide you on the appropriate number of treatments to achieve your desired results.
